In the U.S., your “15% alcohol” wine might contain up to 16% ABV. Why? The TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) allows for a 1.5% variation of declared alcohol content on a bottle of wine 14% and under; and 1% variation if the wine’s ABV is above
14%.
