Not Made in the Shade

When it comes to winegrowing, vines are not like houseplants: i.e., lusher is not better. When the vine canopy grows too exuberantly, this causes problems by blocking sunshine to the grapes and by feeding off the nutrients that should be going to make healthier, tastier berries.
